Resolution for Change

It’s the beginning of the year and everyone is making a resolution on what to do and what not to do.

In my opinion, most resolutions don’t last as long as the nail polish on your nails. (That you paid someone to put on). By definition, resolution is a decision to do something or not to do something. Read that again. Most of us, at this time of year are telling ourselves what we are not going to do. This technique is creating an expectation which is dangerous territory. Every time I show up expecting something, I am 50% disappointed. So why set an expectation on change that may or may not work for you?

Making a change needs an honest assessment of where you are, where you want to go, understanding, grace, and a plan that you decide to commit too. It’s a huge deal. So I wanted to have this conversation with you, before you beat yourself up and quit, I wanted to tell you what I hope you do in the new year….

Let’s Change Your Resolution

I hope you eat more.

Yep, I said it, EAT more. If you want to lose weight and eat more, than learn to eat whole food nutrition. I promise you will never be hungry again. If you want the short term gains that may or may not last, then stay on your 1200 calorie plan that is so difficult to do. I have coached women for several years now and the one thing that 100% of these women were NOT doing before I got ahold of them was eating enough. We have been so conditioned that eating less is a life sentence if we want to look the way we want to look. Sister, the world is constantly evolving and if you want a seat on how to eat more, look good and feel good, I got you covered. You do you, just remember, it’s a decision, not just a resolution.

I hope you love yourself more.

Being everything to everyone is exhausting, I get it. But if you are not loving yourself and making time for you then NO ONE ELSE WILL. Maybe you’re lost in a sea of expectations (there’s that word again) of others and don’t even know it. If you are and that makes you happy, great! If not, retraining what people expect from you is not impossible, just another decision that you are going to have to make or not make.

I hope you take time for self care.

If you are like the precancer Tessa, then you could not afford self care and you treated your body like a 7-11. After I got sick, blasted with 6 rounds of nasty chemotherapy, then surgery, then recovery and made it out the other side. I am here to tell you that you can’t NOT afford to participate in self care. . It is that important. You have got to treat yourself right because if you don’t, no one else will either.

I hope your 2020 includes more decisions made out of love for yourself, your body, and for food that is fuel.
