Fats are NOT the enemy!

What is fat and what affect does that have on our bodies?

Let’s Talk About FAT ….

There are a lot of lies and myths out there about fat so I want to clear a few things up …It’s not the enemy you’ve been taught to avoid. Fats are actually good for you and something you should lean towards instead of avoiding.

WHAT ARE FATS?

Fats are a long tem burning fuel, which means that it will help you to feel fuller longer. Fats help build and maintain cell layers and hormone levels in your body. You will see fats and hear foods called fats by these classifications: saturated, polyunsaturated and monounsaturated. (add examples of these).

HOW MUCH FAT SHOULD YOU CONSUME?

At a minimum, 30% of your intake per day should come from healthy fats. If your body receives more fats than it needs, the extra will be stored in adipose(fat) tissue.  Which means that you should be eating fats in your every day life, with each meal.

Examples of healthy fats:

Eggs, Olives, Olive oil, coconut oil, nut, nut butters, avocados, salmon

Examples of not so healthy fats:

Canola, cottonseed, grapeseed, safflower, soybean oil or hydrogenated oil

Here is one of my favorite recipes for getting good fats into my life.
